The Robots crew have been bringing a bit of the underground to Cielo for three years now, and this month's lineup is one of their canniest yet. Making their NY debut is live duo Extrawelt, perhaps best known for their huge 'Soopertrack' EP on Border Community. Like Minilogue, they're one of the few acts that have made the transition from trance to techno with grace - they started out making psytrance as Midi Miliz and Spirallianz - but these days their tracks are more emo-techno than dayglo - which is to say, leave your glowsticks at home. Cielo staff probably won't let you in with them anyway. DJing will be disgraced Canadian financier Konrad Black - uh, hold on - Wagon Repair star Konrad Black, who might not be a billionaire, but makes up for it by very much knowing his way around a low-slung bass note or two. For once the press notes are right: "Konrad Black proved that there are those who can produce, there are those who can DJ, and then there is Konrad Black whose range of force covers both." Only one problem then - some of us will have to work the next day.
