  • Derrick May's Hi-Tek Soul night celebrates one year of parties at Ministry of Sound in London this month. Derrick May has been repackaging Detroit techno under the name Hi-Tek Soul since the 2005 documentary of the same name, which charted the birth and evolution of Detroit techno. Club nights have since taken place in Tokyo, Miami, New York, Sydney and of course Detroit starring pioneers such as Kevin Saunderson, Stacey Pullen and Anthony 'Shake' Shakir. Next weekend, the HTS London residency at Ministry of Sound turns one. Headlining the main room are techno true believers May and Kevin Saunderson in a rare UK double appearance together, as well as MoS resident Jim Masters. In room two, UK techno gets a look in with Mark Broom, Jamie Anderson and Colin Dale queuing up for the decks, while in room three Terry Farley leads a five-strong cast of local house DJs.
