Latest compilation from Paul Oakenfold is a mix of twenty Oakey originals and reworks. 'Greatest Hits & Remixes' arrives at the end of the month.

These days Oakenfold's focus is on Hollywood soundtracks and pop stardom, but he's still cranking out the occasional remix. Not quite the Greatest Hits package you'd expect from the title (where is 'Grace's 'Not Over Yet'?), 'Greatest Hits & Remixes' gives a quick overview of Oakenfold's 20-year career, ranging from early remixes of the Happy Mondays, Underworld and Massive Attack to recent pop reworks of Justin Timberlake and Mark Ronson. There are also a few cuts thrown in from Oakenfold's artist albums. The collection, presented as a mix, also includes soundtrack pieces from 'The Matrix' and 'Die Another Day.'

A deluxe edition of the album also comes with a bonus DVD featuring live footage of Oakey in action and a 13-minute documentary that promises to give fans a peek inside the life and times of the man himself. Limo rides, red carpets - you get the idea.

Wed, 31 Oct 2007I'd sooner spoon my own eyes out now but i can remember that Mansun mix he did getting played in the Annexe at Cream when i'd not been going out for long and it blew my mind. It was crazy when he played in there.

Mon, 29 Oct 2007Oakey is one of the greatest, i think.
He is greater than people who came to the music much later than he like Tiesto, PvD or Ferry Corsten.

Maybe people who say bad words about him are rather young and can not understand all the history of the trance and house music. If they did it they would find out the role of Oakenfold in the history of the music.
