  • Toronto's new superclub and entertainment complex CiRCA opens its doors this weekend. The brainchild of Peter Gatien, the man behind legendary New York venues Limelight and Tunnel, CiRCA is a four-storey, 53,000 square feet multipurpose venue which includes a 3000 person capacity nightclub with a glass enclosed VIP room, a theatre, numerous bars and catering facilities as well as a Kidrobot showroom and store. A fourth floor, still under construction, will eventually house a music studio and a penthouse suite. CiRCA will operate as a nightclub on weekends with Friday and Saturday nights programmed by Toronto promoters A.D/D and Gem Events respectively. Randomland on Fridays will host dance rock nights as well as bring over more underground European talent while Traffic on Saturdays will serve up big names in progressive, trance, house and techno that should rival current Toronto club giant Guvernment. Superclub war, anyone? CiRCA's grand opening party, Transform, happens tonight on the Canuck version of Thanksgiving weekend with house mainstays Victor Calderone and Mark Farina at the controls. CiRCA is located at 126 John Street, Toronto. Check RA Events for details about upcoming nights.
