  • Early to bed in Ibiza as authorities put the squeeze on afterhours partying in 2008. Ibizan authorities are forcing clubs to close their doors between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. under the new regulations. Authorities cite disturbances to residents and holidaymakers as the reason for the ban. The clampdown affects clubs in the Sant Josep area such as Space, Bora Bora and DC10. San Antonio, home to Eden and Es Paradis, banned after-hours clubs some time ago. Local authorities in Ibiza Town are also considering closing clubs between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., a move which will spell the end of afternoon raves in the area. Vicent Ferrer, head of tourism in Sant Josep, told the Independent newspaper: "In an urban space, an after-hours club is a danger and we have to stop it." Local councilor Paquita Ribas added: "We know the clubs are attractive internationally but we want tourists and residents to live in a better way." The bans are the latest in a series of regulations in Ibiza designed to clamp down on drug use on the island. Last year DC-10 and Bora Bora were forced to close for a month at the beginning of the season, while Amnesia was closed for two months and fined €6,000.
