Early to bed in Ibiza as authorities put the squeeze on afterhours partying in 2008.

Ibizan authorities are forcing clubs to close their doors between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. under the new regulations. Authorities cite disturbances to residents and holidaymakers as the reason for the ban.

The clampdown affects clubs in the Sant Josep area such as Space, Bora Bora and DC10. San Antonio, home to Eden and Es Paradis, banned after-hours clubs some time ago.

Local authorities in Ibiza Town are also considering closing clubs between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., a move which will spell the end of afternoon raves in the area.

Vicent Ferrer, head of tourism in Sant Josep, told the Independent newspaper: "In an urban space, an after-hours club is a danger and we have to stop it." Local councilor Paquita Ribas added: "We know the clubs are attractive internationally but we want tourists and residents to live in a better way."

The bans are the latest in a series of regulations in Ibiza designed to clamp down on drug use on the island. Last year DC-10 and Bora Bora were forced to close for a month at the beginning of the season, while Amnesia was closed for two months and fined €6,000.comment 39 Comments

Tue, 25 Mar 2008Despite new laws being brought to Ibiza, think about all the festivals that are on over the summer. Not just in the UK but Sonar and Exit etc are absolutely banging - and Ibiza is often populated by too many large groups of school kids on their 6th year holiday; who generally have no idea about the music and just want to get pissed...

Fri, 07 Mar 2008Not quite, but Ibiza is changing as does life. It's looking like clubs will be closed between 6am-4.30pm, meaning Space and DC10 will feel the brunt of this new law. However Ibiza remains Ibiza

Thu, 28 Feb 2008From another forum I use it seems that a lot of the local people really do want a clamp down on some of the closing times of the clubs. Probably can't blame them.

Don't think it'll have as big an effect as people fear - as someone has already mentioned it just means arriving at day parties a couple of hours later - and likelihood is most people don't go till after 12 anyway.

Think I'm right in saying that they are currently working with clubs & promoters with a view to extending the... More
