- Celebrated dance bible Generation Ecstasy is about to be updated, more than ten years after its original publication.
New York-based music writer Simon Reynolds has updated Energy Flash, more than ten years after its original publication. Known in the United States as Generation Ecstasy, the history of rave culture was hailed upon its release in 1998 by MOJO as "an exceptional book" that "virtually obviates the need for any further literature on the period."
The update will seek to explain the ten years following its publication, including chapters that cover the trance resurgence, 2step, the nu-'80s electro, microhouse, grime and dubstep.
Unfortunately, for US fans of Reynolds' incisive prose, the updated edition of Energy Flash will only be released in the UK. Considering the contents of its updated edition that probably shouldn't be much of a surprise.
'Energy Flash' will be available from February 1st.
