Drum n bass icon/reality TV star
Goldie mixes jungle and jump-up styles on the seventh installment of the
Watch The Ride series due out next week.
Goldie, whose eponymous grill graces the CD cover, is arguably dnb’s most recognized and recognizable representative, with over fifteen years on the scene and a hugely influential label, Metalheadz, to boot. On his offtime he’s played thugs in films like Guy Ritchie’s
Snatch and lived through a season of
Big Brother. His next reality TV stint is in August on BBC Two’s
Maestro when he competes against seven other “celebrities” to conduct the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
Goldie’s
Watch The Ride follows installments from from fellow dnb DJ/producers Zinc, TC and High Contrast. The mix includes four of his own productions as Rufige Kru, a collective with a revolving door of fellow dnb dons, alongside new Metalheadz pressure from Noisia and Commix. There’s also love for the old(ish) school with Future Cut’s ‘Whiplash’ (1999) and Shy FX’s ‘Bambaata’ (1997) making appearances. The latter, however, gets a thoroughly decade-on remix courtesy of producer-of-the-moment Break.
