RBMA 2010 : LONDON

Daniele Baldelli unleashes his Cosmic Disco?! Cosmic Rock!!! on Eskimo this week.

It’s no small task to follow-up Prins Thomas’ mind-bending mix Cosmo Galactica Prism, but Eskimo smartly enlisted legendary Italian DJ Daniele Baldelli for the job. Baldelli is one of the first Italian DJs, harkening back to the '60s before the term DJ had even been coined. He has since accumulated 60,000 records and his Cosmic Disco?! Cosmic Rock!!! makes no small use of them, spanning dancehall to disco, r’n’b to synth pop. Playing off the name of Baldelli’s renowned party from the early '80s, Cosmic, the mix also prominently features artists from that golden age of synth-pop. As the madcap inventor of the anything-goes “Dee Jay concert,” expect a seamless psychedelic chug with quite a few WTF moments along the way.

Tracklisting

02. Richard Bone - Mutant Wisdom

Tue, 22 Jul 2008Hehehe, this made me laugh too. Man, we're getting old for knowing this stuff.... 'Echo beach, far away in time!'

I was only 7 when Echo beach came out, hopefully I'm not too old yet

Fri, 11 Jul 2008This is a lot fairer in tone as opposed to most of your cosmic/Balearic reviews.

lets be brutally honest, fast, instrumental music is easy to mix, so is slow instrumental music.

shit tunes, top mixing is null and void.
Top tunes,shit mixing is a party 'IT'S ON '

Top tunes ,sequenced well is sublime. In fact it's cosmic.

Music for grownups.

Fri, 11 Jul 2008Love this mix. One thing the review didn't note is that a lot of the tracks are heavily edited or remixed. I tracked down some of the originals and several of them are very different. Mostly for the better I'd have to say. Baldelli rocks!
