Mike Shannon will release his third full-length,
The Memory Tree, on Plus 8 in September.
The Canadian producer recently relocated to Berlin and his new record will showcase the clubby sounds of the city, eschewing the varied sounds of previous full-lengths. Instead, the Cynosure label head has opted for what Plus 8 is calling a "dark and soulful" collection that's got "intuitive beats, evolving arrangements, [and] homogeneous sounds and melodies". With that careful slipping in of the word homogeneous there at the end, it seems to us that we might have another minimal techno record on our hands. But, then again, Shannon has had releases on labels as varied as Wagon Repair and ~scape, so we're more than prepared to be surprised.
