Minitek announces day venue, one more headliner

- Expecting the usual minimal techno bollocks at Minitek? Think again. House music legend Francois K has now been confirmed as the headliner of one of the festival's two stages at Coney Island. Did we say Coney Island? That's new too. Minitek has finally announced both of its venues: At night, they'll take over the hardly traditional dance venue Penn Plaza Pavilion, in midtown Manhattan, while the festival will take place during the day on two stages at Brooklyn's Coney Island. We recommend plenty of sunblock—and a Nathan's hot dog. Bored of waiting for the festival? Might we suggest a little competition for those who dream of minimal techno stardom, then? Minitek, Ableton, Indaba and AirDrop are joining up to host a remix contest. Aspiring producers will be able to download the parts of AirDrop release Tres by Lejano Oeste and the winner will have their remix put out by the label, as well as an exclusive premiere of the track at the festival.
