Italo duo Heartbreak will release their debut album Lies in September.

Composed of synth wizard Ali Renault and frontman Sebastian Muravchik, the group hearkens back to classic Italo. It's Italo with a slight twist, however: Muravchik isn't some emotionless automaton. He imbues these tracks with feeling, singing his heart out over tracks with titles like "We're Back" and "Deadly Pong of Love." Sound interesting? If so—and you live in the UK—you can see the group play live later this month.

Tracklist
01. We're Back
02. Don't Lose My Time
03. Soul Transplant
04. Robots Got the Feeling
05. Akin to Dancing
06. Interlude
07. Regret
08. Deadly Pong
09. Give Me Action
10. Poison
11. Living Just for Fun

Heartbreak will release Lies on September 22, 2008 on Lex.

Wed, 05 Nov 2008SIMPLY, I JUST THEIR SOUND AND VOICE THAT TAKES ME UP AND DOWN.

LOVE IT LOVE IT!

WON'T GET IT ENOUGH IF THINGS ARE JUST REPEATED AGAIN AND AGAIN.

BUT NOTICED THAT, THEIR SYNTH AND VOCAL PROCESS IS SO MUCH DIFFERENT FROM A LOT OF ITALO RETRO BAND. THEY ARE MUCH MORE DARK AND FILTHY.

Mon, 13 Oct 2008I actually think that there is a thread going through their music that has been omitted, and is not necessarily very contrived.

The Argento/Giallo inspired logo should serve as a clue. There is really not such a huge gulf between the borderline disco Italo prog of say, Goblin, and Black Sabbath - who were also purveyors of groove based psychedelia.

I actually feel like Heartbreak have succeded in bringing some of those elements into a pop format, irrespective of the fact that admittedly... More

Mon, 29 Sep 2008er...soul transplant is simply a good song. Its nicely produced, sung with conviction and not taking itself to seriously.

Wed, 24 Sep 2008I don't understand this review... i've just had a look at the writer's blog and Heartbreak should fit right in with his taste... I think the Black Sabbath influence is totally obvious in Heartbreak's vocals and that hard, micro-korg synth sounding like guitars... seems a shame to miss this and make out like it's a marketing gimmik. I've met the band a bunch of times and they're a lot less contrived than you think...
