- The DC duo has set a September date for the release of their new album.
Washington DC duo Thievery Corporation will release a new album in September called Radio Retaliation.
As Carl Craig explained earlier this year to RA, the state of radio in the United States is dire, with only a few companies owning the majority of stations throughout the country. Rob Garza and Eric Hilton, the two men behind the Corporation, are equally as unhappy about the airwaves and have recorded an entire album about it. Says Hilton "Radio Retaliation is about an exodus of conscious people who are willing to acknowledge something is wrong with the 'official version' in news and culture."
Not an uncommon sentiment these days, surely, but with the duo bringing in the likes of Brazilian singer-songwriter Seu Jorge, Nigerian Femi Kuti and sitar master Anoushka Shankar, the message should go down rather easily to even those who don't want to hear it.
