Indie electronic favorite
Caribou has taken home Canada's Polaris Prize.
The award, which "annually honours, celebrates and rewards creativity and diversity in Canadian recorded music," is largely populated by indie rock nominees such as Feist, Black Mountain, Stars and others, but seems to have a jones for the electronic. In addition to Caribou's win, last year's award went to Patrick Watson, the voice featured on
Guillaume & The Coutu Dumonts' "Main Man." As the winner of the prize, Dan Snaith—the man behind Caribou—will receive a novelty-sized check that he can cash for $20,000.
