  • Presumably inspired by the consistent distributor problems for his physical label, Damian Lazarus is set to launch a digital arm to Crosstown Rebels. Called Crosstown Digital Rebels, the imprint will be an adjunct to the label proper and was reportedly created to "showcase alternative versions of previously released tracks, experiments in sound and introductions to new artists and collaborators." True to form, the imprint's first release—slated for a late November street date—are two remixes of Jamie Jones' "Panic" by Bass Clef. The tunes, initially at least, will only be available via Beatport. Lazarus has had his fair share of distribution problems in the past, so it makes sense that he might go the digital route. In 2007, the Rebel owner seemed to be considering closing the label altogether after Amato Distribution filed for liquidation. After some apparent soul searching, however, Lazarus came back firing with a relaunch of Crosstown Rebels earlier this year with new artwork and a new city to call home—Los Angeles—as well. "I am loving Los Angeles," Lazarus recently told RA. "A change in the pace of my life is working wonders out here in the greenest and freshest part of the city." With more CDR releases on the way, including tracks from Dyed Soundroom, Aaron-Carl and Adultnapper, it certainly seems like it.
