Bloc unveil more guests

Carl Craig, Metro Area, Egyptian Lover and Modeselektor are amongst the names that will grace Minehead's Butlins resort next year.

Organisers of next March's Bloc Weekend have steadily been trickling out additions to their line-up, which now included heavyweight bookings such as Carl Craig, Daniel Bell and Robert Hood.

The aforementioned guests will stoke interest with the Detroit techno fans out there, but there's so many other great acts on what we can only describe as a pretty stellar bill. Dubstep thrills are aplenty, with a large Bristol presence from producers such as Pinch, Appleblim, Joker and Peverelist. In what is an uncommon move on the dubstep scene, both Rusko and 2562 will play live, whilst the capital city is represented by Kode9 and dancefloor wrecker Coki. Lee 'Scratch' Perry and Scientist will being some actual dub to proceedings, and old-school electro is well represented with appearances from Egyptian Lover, Arabian Prince and Dynamix II.

In a change from last year's event, Italo and disco acts are now amongst the acts that will be playing, with scene ambassadors Metro Area and I-F joining relative newcomers Heartbreak at the holiday camp. With other additions coming from DJ Godfather, 4Hero, Pole, Redshape and 2 Bad Mice, Bloc is undoubtedly going to be one messy weekend for the electronic music fans that will be in attendance. comment 23 Comments

Tue, 07 Apr 2009feel sorry for the reviewer missing aphex, was easily the highlight. lots of hard hitting acid tinged techno, with the last 10 mins or so of pure noise worked by hecker through the surround sound function one...incredible!

didnt have any trouble getting in to see him myself, even going back after leaving half way through to catch a bit of mr hood...

Tue, 07 Apr 2009yep, he played a nicely timed early evening set with some flowery visuals that made for a nice woozy warmup for later. peculiarly sat at a table with his back to the crowd, not sure what it was about but we thought he might be showcasing some new software?
