UNsound - NYC

Mr C is selling his entire collection of vinyl, with a minimum asking price of £75,000.

The ex-Shamen frontman has cited his forthcoming move to LA—where he plans to pursue his acting career—as the reason behind the sale.

In these credit-crunching times, it seems uncertain that a fan may emerge with the necessary money to take the entire collection off his hands. A much more likely outcome would be that a speculative buyer (or group of buyers) would stump up the cash to split and re-sell the collection at a profit. At the minimum price of £75,000, the 15,000-strong collection works out at about £5 per record, but there are bound to be quite a few in there that would sell for much more.

Fans need not worry that this spells the end of Mr C's long and illustrious DJing career, however. He has been quoted as saying that he is "a new music DJ," and will continue to spin sets comprising of only new records during his stay in the US.comment 195 Comments

Sat, 28 Nov 2009I have heard this 'living legend' spin over the last 16 years at Drum/White Sugar/Cyclone/Vapour Space/Sleepless Nights/The End plus many more events. His track selection is always fresh and I often wonder just where the fuck he gets some of his amazing tunes...No one can fuse two tracks together like Mr.C. and have an effect on the floor/crowd the way he does...So he wants to sell his records? So what? Imagine shipping all that overseas... I'm sure there are many people who appreciate his... More

Sun, 11 Jan 2009nobody has that amount of money to pay for that. I think you should sell them in 10s, at a random selection.

The addled fuckwit made the announcement shortly after investing in a high quality 20 X 20 inch framed canvas print of none other than Paul Ross, erstwhile entertainer and star of our screens. If only Mr C's extensive collection of old music sounded even half as good as Paul Ross's penetrating stare, we'd all be bidding.
