Dave Huismans has just released his first full-length under his A Made Up Sound moniker.
Fans may be more familiar with Huismans' work as
2562 for Pinch's Tectonic label, but the producer has been putting out material as A Made Up Sound on both Philpot and
Shed's Subsolo label over the past few years.
The self-released project, entitled
Shortcuts, isn't your usual album. In a similar vein to Donnacha Costello's
6x6, Huismans recorded one track per night during a rainy month in 2004. Writing on his MySpace page, Huismans said that "Every piece had to be finished the same night, as I wanted to find out if I could use compulsion in a positive way, as a means to create something different."
The result is twenty untitled tracks that are anchored in techno, dubstep, broken beat and house, which should appeal to fans of both his 2562 and his past A Made Up Sound material.
A Made Up Sound's Shortcuts
is out now.
