RA Xmas party adds Melchior, Shackleton and more

The celebrated artists will join Modeselektor, Lawrence, Move D and others at matter later this month.

Perlon and Cadenza man Thomas Melchior, Skull Disco head Shackleton, recent RA podcaster Motor City Drum Ensemble and RA staffer Jozif will join the massive line-up at RA's Xmas bash at matter.

The quartet are the veritable cherry on top of the previous announced acts set to take over the London superclub. As we mentioned last week, Modeselektor, DJ Koze, Lawrence, Move D, Trus'me and dOP are set to perform in a line-up that now features six live acts and two UK debuts.

Motor City Drum Ensemble and Jozif have both been drafted in to warm up the night, each with their unique styles. Motor City's love of Detroit soul and smooth house'll fit right in with Trus'me's classics-leaning set—a sound that you can sample for the next few weeks via his RA podcast. Jozif, meanwhile, has been making waves of his own on labels like Danton Eeprom's Fondation and with an unreleased tune that has been rocking dancefloors. Keep an ear out for it on the 20th.

Light and airy will definitely not be the order of the day for both Melchior and Shackleton, though. Melchior's dizzyingly minimal DJ sets have been winning fans around the world this year, while Shackleton's Skull Disco imprint has been one of the defining labels in the world of dubstep. As Shackleton closes the label, it seems only fitting that he will be the one to close out the night after Modeselektor's live performance with their A/V genius Pfadfinderei.

With tickets at a still-ridiculous £8 to RA members, we're hoping you'll take a chance on ten of our favorite acts and celebrate the holidays with us. comment 116 Comments

Mon, 12 Jan 2009Ooh I smell the Eggy season... that would please me no end.
Although I couldnt fault Buzzin Fly's final night at The End (probably my last time there) I just cant help but feel I've missed out on summing special. We wont talk about the line-up, brings a tear to my eye.

Extremely gutted to have missed this. Easter would be a great idea!!
