The Two Tribes festival nears ever closer and with that Future Entertainment are privy to releasing more information about each leg of the tour. We can now reveal the full details of the Sydney Two Tribes event. To be held at the Sydney Showgrounds in Homebush bay on Mardi Gras weekend (March 1) the full line-up details as confirmed to this point (as there will definitely be a few adjustments before the event) are as follows... GodsKitchenThe event will commence at 4pm and continue through until 7am. Early bird tickets are now onlsale. Until Febuary 3 for a reasonable $65 plus booking fee. The Gold Coast and Melbourne parties are scheduled for Saturday 8 March and Sunday 9 March respectively. A new night is set to take shape in Sydney. ‘Kit & Kaboodle’ was according to their first press release “born out of a desire to present a club night with the emphasis on true house music and the people who love it”. The crew behind this new venture includes Scott Pullen and Damien Goundie. The two have desired to work together for 5 years, but due to various commitments within the industry have been unable to allocate the time necessary. A carefully selected DJ roster includes DJ’s who are heavily involved in the Sydney house music scene via presenting on radio, promotion of previous house events and running of record stores. Opening night is at the ‘Mini Bar’ Burdekin Hotel on January 25 with the evenings line-up taking shape as follows: Kit & Kaboodle opening night Big Lee The Jackal Scott Pullen Damien Goundrie Crucial D Timbo Entry for the evening is $10. The Burdekin is located at 2 Oxford Street Darlinghurst. This Sunday 26 January is fast approaching and the big party for lovers of techno and breaks is Rotation at Room680, with an all star lineup of techno internationals, and our favourite breakbeat locals. Extra sound has been also been brought in for the night to complement the usually bass heavy Room system. Let's hope there's also an extra deck so that Luke Slater can play on 3! Tickets are $30 plus bf and still available, so jump to it. Once a month sine July 2001, Beats and Peaces have hosted a very unique party called Fourplay at The Roxbury Hotel in Glebe. The event which focused on live music, DJs and art has gained a solid following and a reputation as a truly 'innovative' event in Sydney. Fourplay has been host to an amazing array of talented live acts, DJs, artists and musicians since it started in July 2001. Some of the acts who have played include Katalyst, Professor Groove & the Booty Affair, dB Chills, Deep Child, Entropic, Tracky Dax, Multiball and Kinetic to name just a few. Speaking via press release Promoter Glenn Hamilton had this to say: " We thought we were crazy starting a Saturday afternoon warm-up party with live music in a pub in Glebe when we started ... and we probably were. But we took a gamble and started this event which was the middle ground between a nightclub, a live music venue and a bar, we took the best elements of each and let the people do the rest. " In reference to why they are calling it quits Glenn also stated that they had “achieved everything we set out to achieve with Fourplay.”Keep an eye out for Beats and Peaces live music gigs, harbour cruises, big parties and low key gatherings. The last 'normal' Fourplay will be held on Saturday 1st Feb and the final farewell ('Fourplay - The Climax') will take place on Saturday 1st March and will have a huge line-up of local DJ 's who have helped shape the identity of Fourplay. Sydney’s Sweetchilli have once again looked outside the borders of New South Wales to find their headliners for the next dose of “proper progressive”. Brilliant Melbourne producer Jono Fernandez whose known best for his work with the high quality Melbourne based record label, Zero tolerance will top the bill alongside Canberra’s Nash T (aka Bluephase). These two gifted musicians are joined in the back room by Ben Korbel, Crispin and Daniel Crocetti. Whilst the front room sees the return of Langdon Cook and the new addition of Will Styles alongside usual residents Dom Tych and Jilbert. Tickets are available on the door for $15 if you register your details at the link below: The techno brand Rotation has been dormant since 2001, but Melbourne punters were delighted to hear that it would make a return in 2003 with its ninth event. Ahead of the gig, this Saturday January 21 at Room, residentadvisor caught up with Rotation founder Simon Coyle to get the story behind the name. One of the pioneers of trance and rated #4 in 2002 top 100 DJs, Paul van Dyk, will hit Australia shores this coming March. The demand for PVD globally is astounding but he has always been able to make a trip to most capitals cities in Oz every year. The Australian tour dates are listed below but venues and details are yet to be confirmed. PVD Dates 26th March - Perth. 27th March - Adelaide. 28th March - Melbourne. 29th March - Sydney. No public holiday in Melbourne is complete without a dance event. Those with a taste for house music should check out Phreakin on Sunday 26 January. The huge DJ lineup includes Jeff Tyler, Ben Henderson, Scott Finemore, Matt Keleher, Pip D'Aloia, Benny Good Times, Brad Daniels, Tyson, Mista C, Seth Taylor, Andy Arnott, and Abe. The Phreakin sound is “super tuff phunk rock house” which brings on images of tech, tribal, and tasteful house to get you dancing. Phreakin members who sign up by joining the mailing list will be able to pick up a free CD mixed by Phreakin residents Jeff Tyler and Tyson on the night. Phreakin starts at 9pm and goes through until 7am. Entry is $10 and the party is on at Two Floors Up, Level 1/185 Lonsdale St City. As earlier reported, Mr Scruff will be making a Sydney appearance this Saturday 25th January at the Arthouse. He will be playing a lengthy 5 hour set to please all who attend. The tickets are $40 + booking fee (also available from Central Station Records, Fish, Parade) and the event will be running from 10pm till late. Deep Dish's Yoshitoshi label is classed on of the best in the world for quality releases. For the years the Winter Music Conference has been operating, Yoshitoshi have been present for most. This coming WMC will see the boys take on the decks at Space on 23rd March for a 12 hour spin cycle with a host of their other artists to assist.
