Miss Moneypenny’s could soon join the list of Sydney club nights searching for a new permanent home due to recent troubles at Spi bar. Last Saturday night, on arrival, patrons and Monneypenny’s staff found the club to be closed. In a message from Monneypenny’s they have said:
“First of all I would like to apologise for anyone who turned up at Spi Bar last Saturday for Moneypenny’s only to find out that the club was shut – believe me when I say nobody was more disappointed about this than we were. An incident occurred on the Friday night during the launch of an RnB night and as a result of it the police closed the club down for 72 hours – which meant through no fault off ours we could not open for business.

In relation to the future of Moneypenny’s at Spi bar they released this:
”… Spi Bar’s future is very uncertain at the moment and it looks set to close its doors in the very near future,… this could very well be the last Moneypenny’s at Spi Bar.
Those keen to head down this Saturday night to what could be the finale, will be pleased to hear the line up will include DMA nominee Shamus, Billy Hamill and guests Jackster and Terance Moreno.

Click here for the ReviewUberzone describes this release as the logical progression to create a mix CD based on new concepts and techniques. The original idea behind this release in 1999 was for 'The Digital Mix' to be a live set but as this was inefficient to travel with the only logical step was to move to DJing, and this was something Uberzone didn’t want to do.

So the idea of 'The Digital Mix' was to be pushed towards releasing a compilation, put together entirely in a digital environment, this give the Uberzone full control of everything that is going on and using plug-ins and structure simulators like Reaktor he has been able to pull off some very impressive sounding mixes. In a unique twist the release ends with a 13-minute long bassline, which the producer of most of the album Robert ‘3-D’ Naja’ says is "to do dinner to, sleep at the wheel, or fuck your brains out to - it neatly takes the CD up to its' 74-minute limit".

Due to the current drought situation in Victoria, which also causes a severe fire risk the Earthcore crew have had to move from Mount Disappointment. It has been declared too dangerous to host the upcoming event by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and the CFA.

So they have moved to the crater of a volcano west of Melbourne. A quote from the press release by Earthcore states the following:
Fear not, this incredible natural feature is completely extinct and Earthcore guarantees there will be no molten lava on the dancefloor!

We apologise for any inconvenience but trust you understand we have
extremely good reasons for doing this. The possibility of a move has been included in our planning for the last 4 months meaning the change of venue will in no way impact on the quality of the event.
All the artists (James Holden, Nick Sentience, S.I Futures, Infusion and loads more) billed for this event will still be playing and all advertised stunts, equipment, and setup are all lined-up for this event. To read the full line-up and all the latest details on this Earthcore event, taking place on the 30th of November check out their official site...
