- The Accidental artist will release her debut album in February of next year.
Grime, modern classical and something approaching pop: There seems to be no better place in the world for Mica Levi, AKA Micachu, than Matthew Herbert's Accidental imprint.
The producer, who has already released two 7-inch singles for the label, will bring what the press notes call "electro-static squawks, vacuum cleaners revs, loops and lewd lyrics" to Jewellery, her debut album with The Shapes, and its 15 songs. It's pop music, surely, but filtered through the aesthetic of an electronic artist in which cutting and pasting and composing are all one and the same. We'd expect nothing less from an artist who crafts grime mixtapes and has already scored a composition for the London Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of 21, but we're perhaps even more interested to hear that the record is produced by Herbert himself.
