  • Alessandro Tedeschi, AKA Netherworld, will release a new album next month called Over the Summit. Tedeschi is probably one of the most productive ambient artists out there today. Since 2004 he's put out six solo albums, plus a gaggle of collaborative efforts, including a record with Canadian drone duo Nadja. Meanwhile, his label Glacial Movements Records has put out nine full-lengths since it launched in 2006, including the latest from Bvdub, The Art of Dying Alone. Over the Summit shows the Roman artist looking north for inspiration; the album is inspired by Hyperborea, a region described in Greek mythology as having 24 hours of sunlight, and which historians believe to be based on the arctic circle. Along with other found sounds and field recordings, Tedeschi claims to have recorded the sound of the Aurora Borealis itself (though the existence of such sounds has never been proven, some say it emanates swishing and crackling noises). Glacial Movements reportedly has new albums by Bvdub, Loscil and Thomas Koner in the pipeline, though details on those releases are still scarce. Tracklist 01. Over the Summit 02. Aurora Performs Its Last Show 03. Iceblink [Aurora Borealis mix] 04. Crystallized Words 05. Thoughts Locked in the Ice 06. Iperborea Glacial Movement will release Over the Summit in December 2010.
