Akai Professional's MPD line is getting an update.
Details have come to light by way of a teaser video on Akai's YouTube channel, which invites producers and live performers to "choose your weapon." (We've embedded the video below.) The choice is between three models, all of which feature a four-by-four bank of LED-backlit, MPC-style pads: the MPD218, with six knobs; the MPD226, with four faders and four knobs; and the MPD232, with eight faders, eight knobs and a 64-track, 32-step sequencer. All three will also be iOS-compatible. More details, including pricing and a release date, are forthcoming.
