  • Next up from New York experimental label PTP is Nocebo, an album by the Paris-based Iranian duo 9T Antiope. It's the second in a trilogy, bookended by Isthmus and later Placebo, with a spoken-word element that's both narrative and poetic. "Nocebo recounts the stories of beings who have given up on their space and time, thus forcing themselves into complete isolation and eventually a self-induced comatose state," they write. Out on February 15th via PTP (formerly called Purple Tape Pedigree), the LP is comprised of two long-format compositions. The duo of Nima Aghiani and Sara Bigdeli Shamloo, who featured in our recent deep dive into the Tehran electronic music scene, have been living in Paris since 2014. Their live set often incorporates Shamloo's singing with Aghiani's violin, plus electronic processing and textural synth work. Listen to an excerpt from Nocebo.
