  • Sydney will be getting a new online radio station this month. Nomad Radio will launch on June 24th with a mission to "promote the breadth of talent in this city by broadcasting a diverse range of music that is not restricted to any single genre or style," their press release explains. "Nomad Radio was born out of the necessity for a single unified platform for artists to share and collaborate in the Sydney scene, especially in a time where music, arts and culture are receiving increasing neglect from the state government." Among the nearly 30 shows lined up to begin with come from Sydneysiders like IV Drip, Thick Owens of Soft Centre, Thomas Gray & Liam Ebbs, Merph, George Michelle of Burning Rose and Pharmaceutical Audio boss Eden777, as well as station owner and RA staffer Oscar Watson-Smith AKA Oggadog. The studio will be housed in Precinct 75, a large creative complex in St Peters, although the station will accept prerecorded shows in an effort to allow artists living elsewhere to participate. A launch party will be held at Freda's on June 19th, the week before the station goes live.
