San Francisco based Om Records will soon apply the extensive knowledge gained as one of the worlds leading house labels to a new Hip Hop imprint. The formation of Om: Hip Hop, will add further flavour to the Om roster and will be entirely devoted to (you guessed it!) Hip Hop beats. Known for releasing many soulful, funky, groove heavy releases, Om has built a sizeable hip hop catalog with releases from such artists as People Under the Stairs, DJ Mark Farina's Mushroom Jazz, J Boogie's Dubtronic Science, and more.
Kicking off the new arm of the OM family will be the debut release of ‘West Oaktown’ by Oakland based hip-hop collective, Colossus. Embodying all that is vibrant and flourishing about the Oakland music scene 6 foot 8” Englishman Charlie Tate’s manages to blend Jazz, funk, soul and hip-hop with distinctive fluidity.
