  • X.Y.R. has a new album, Pilgrimage, on the way. Vladimir Karpov has built up a reputation for questing, mysterious synth music across records for the likes of Not Not Fun and Quiet Time. His third LP for the Los Angeles-based Not Not Fun consists of two side-long tracks which Karpov describes as "trips in search of something." Pilgrimage was recorded between July and October of 2019 at X.Y.R.'s home studio in Alexandrovskaya, St. Petersburg. Karpov used Formanta Mini and Korg M1 synths mixed with effects pedals, field recordings, percussion and a microphone. Alexey Krjuk supplied an Elektron Octatrack and a modular synthesizer. The album is part of a batch of fall releases that also includes tapes from V Kristoff, Coral Club and the Polish artist мхи и лишайники (Mosses & Lichens). X.Y.R.'s Pilgrimage will be on vinyl, with all four releases due September 4th. Listen to X.Y.R.'s "Black Monk In The Dunes."
