  • Saffron and its sister programme Mix Nights have launched a fundraising appeal. Announced on Instagram today, March 8th, the Bristol-based non-profit organisation said it's in a precarious position and needs financial assistance to continue. "Over the last few months, a number of crucial and expected arts grants and income sources for our work in 2023 have not materialised or been cut, and our primary industry donor has departed," the post read. "This has left us in a tight spot. We're now turning to our community to help get us through the next few months while we carry out our long-term plans to make Saffron more sustainable. If you want to do something real to support the cause this International Women's Day, please read, share and donate." According to Saffron founder Laura-Lewis Paul, a combination of "the cost of living, government arts cuts and lack of sustained funding post-BLM is leaving non-profit organisations like us without the crucial core investment we need to stay afloat." Last month, Doors Open, Resident Advisor and Saffron launched Forward in Sound, a sound engineering career development project aimed at women, trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming people. Donate to the fundraiser appeal, and read Saffron's post in full.
