  • Darren Ellis, the jungle and drum & bass producer known by the aliases Undercover Agent and Splash, has passed away, DJ Mag reports. According to a GoFundMe that was set up yesterday, March 21st, Ellis died in his sleep on Wednesday, March 20th. He had been battling health issues in recent years. Donations from the crowdfunding campaign will be used for funeral costs and other necessities. £1,235 of its £4,000 goal had been reached at the time of writing. "We did everything we could to support him through this time and today we are absolutely heartbroken," campaign organiser and friend Danny Donnelly wrote. "I had literally spoken to him the day before he passed, making the shock at this news is all the more devastating." Ellis was best known for his pioneering work in jungle and drum & bass as a producer, under the monikers Undercover Agent and Splash, as well as founding the influential label Juice Records. As Splash, he created the 1995 track "Babylon," which is recognised as one of the most important jungle records of all time.
