  • Clubs in France are to be recognised as "cultural actors" under new legislation. Minister of Culture Rachida Dati broke the news on X last Tuesday, April 2nd. "It's important to recognise clubs and discotheques as popular cultural actors," the post read. Dati said that this development will improve the operating conditions of these venues. The announcement follows years of lobbying from groups such as Culture Nuit, a union of cultural and musical nightlife venues that counts the likes of Le Badaboum, Rex Club and Point Ephémère as members. Members of Culture Nuit met with Dati last week, prior to the announcement. "We thank the minister for her commitment and joint actions to come," the group wrote on Instagram.
