New album ‘Reworks’ on Bpitch Control features nine remixes of Kalkbrenner tracks by the likes of Michael Mayer, Wighnomy Brothers, Sascha Funke, Agoria and Ellen Allien. The complilation is due for release early October.
Bpitch mainstay Paul Kalkbrenner has had the project in the works for a year now, and himself handpicked the candidates from his friends and musical inspirations. The result promises not only gives a new touch to some of Kalkbrenner’s best tracks, but it also brings together some of the most experienced producers in Germany.
The Wighnomy Brothers go beatless on ‘Steinbeisser’ while Sascha Funke, Joris Voorn concentrate on builds and peaks in their retakes. Kalkbrenner’s smash hit ‘Gebrünn Gebrünn’ goes under the thumb of Alexander Kowalski, who promises to take the tune “into entirely new territory”.
Kalbrenner’s original ‘Gebrünn Gebrünn’ was thrashed by every DJ around at the beginning of this year including James Holden, John Digweed, Sven Vath and Marco Bailey, so watchers will be psyched to hear a new version.
The Alexander Kowalski and Joris Voorn remixes will be released as a single September 4. Samples from the single can be streamed at the Bpitch site.
