The weekly RA Exchange is a series of conversa- tions with artists, labels and promoters shaping the electronic music landscape.

RA.EX117 Peter Broderick

Homespun, folk-tinged electronic music.

Peter Broderick may be unknown to many readers of RA. He certainly doesn't make house or techno. His simple and direct work for Type Records and Erased Tapes instead slots him next to homespun ambient artists like Goldmund and Deaf Center. Broderick's connection with the world of electronic music began by playing with the Danish band Efterklang, a group who deftly incorporates field recordings and synthesized flourishes into their chamber pop. These Walls of Mine is Broderick's latest album, and it's simultaneously his most personal and electronic record yet. We caught up in Berlin earlier this month to talk about skateboarding, music reviews and the similarities between pizza-making and music-making.
