  • Joseph "Amp" Fiddler's life in music spans genres and decades. Beginning his career in the R&B group Enchantment, Fiddler eventually became a member of George Clinton's cosmic funk troupes Parliament and Funkadelic. In the present day, his list of collaborators reads like a who's who of music royalty, running from Seal to Sly & Robbie and even Prince. Fiddler has always had a strong connection with his hometown Detroit, where his contribution to the local scene is massive. He aided the careers of J Dilla and Slum Village and became a key figure in the city's electronic music scene, forming working relationships with the likes of Theo Parrish and Moodymann. The latter just released Fiddler's most recent album, Amp Dog Knights, on his Mahogani label. The record is something of a survey of Detroit music history, so RA's Stephen Titmus had Fiddler discuss the records that defined his life, from Space Cadets to George Clinton and Three Chairs.
