About AdamStolz / Depth of Field, negative space, texture, contrast: These are all elements of design instilled in Adam from a young age. His creativity and talent allowed for him to be a very well received visual artist as a child and teenager, but as he grew older music started to become his primary focus creatively. So as time went on it was only a matter of time before he was applying those principles to his production work.
Growing up near the home of Black Nation (Kalamazoo, MI) provided Adam with all the inspiration he needed. Learning how to mix records with old white labels and obscure techno cuts, from all his mentors in the area, helped forge his sound into something more off kilter than some of his peers where playing at the time. He developed into a very strong DJ moving crowds all over the Midwest, eventually finding a calm balance between his love for both techno and house music. Always keeping a mystique of the dark yet not ignoring his passion for rhythm, you can still hear both influences in his productions distinctly.
Currently Adam lives in Chicago and he continues to push his creative boundaries both with music and art. The past year has seen Adam’s sound develop even further, along with his popularity overseas, as his tracks have been charted and played by artists such as: Paco Osuna, Bloody Mary, Oliver Deutschmann, and Anderson Noise (to name a few). As momentum continues to grow with this artist he is one to keep an ear open for. You can find his tracks already released on labels: Prosthetic Pressings (Chicago), Freaky Vibes (Spain), Cryovac (Detroit) and now Black Nation. With original tracks and remixes still scheduled to come out this summer on Cutoff Records (Italy), Blank Code (Detroit), and Freaky Vibes.
