Young DJ from new French electro scene, Charp is spinning his frenzied records for 8 years, from fancy clubs to underground parties. He was influenced at first by artists such as Ricardo Villalobos, R.Hawtin, Gui Boratto, Loco Dice and Laurent Garnier.
He is especially good at grooving on your feet and mind with eclectic beats from minimal to techno.
After his first tour in Asia in Summer 2008, he decided that it was time for him to improve his style and put down his record bags in Shanghai for a while. Therefore he started to prove himself in different clubs and bars of Shanghai such as Lounge18, Bar Rouge, G+, Logo, Dada, Anar, Shelter etc.
As of 2009, Charp took part in larger events such as Blender Festival and Abeisha Fashion show. At the same time he started to organize his own parties: Cybernature, The unknowns, Let’s play and Deep Stuff, where all sorts of well-known artists were invited.
In 2010 he commenced his resident parties, one of which in the vibrant LOGO (Cybernature), one weekly residency at MAO CLUB (every Wednesday - Deep Deep), a monthly at SHIVA Lounge (Deep Stuff), and another monthly at LOLA. Of course there have been many more since 2011.
In 2012 Charp had played in Haze club (Beijing), then he started playing at Amber lounge, as well as launching his own party style (Holy Sh*t) with Thoma Cher at Lola on Thursdays. They’ve worked with the most popular local DJs and musicians and are now looking forward to some exciting international bookings for 2013.
Strengthened by these sophisticated and efficient experiences, especially after breaking the dance floors all around Shanghai, Charp is now prepared to share the decks with some international DJs once they’re landed in Shanghai (Boys Noize, Paul Kalkbrenner, Fritz Kalkbrenner, Felix Da Housecat, Paul Ritch, Okain, Azari & III)
Every now and then, when he gets a chance to go back to Europe, he always manages to organize a tour, and find himself on stage with DJs such as Chris Tietjen (Cocoon recording) and Cesar Merveille (Cadenza record).
Having been able to focus on new tones, sounds and artists, his finds his music a mix of minimalist deep house and techno. His DJ set has been spotted between other DJs in Shanghai for his energetic and melodious way of understanding music, which always stirs up the audience.
