DJ Milliways and Golden Flux exploring the dance floor...
About DJ_Milliways /
Milliways is a renaissance man. No Medium is off limits to him. He views all modes of creativity as valid explorations of life. To him DJing is just another facet in the effort to communicate and take people on internal and external journeys. If you get to know Milli on a personal level you will find that he has a vast knowledge of the esoteric arts and his life seems to fluctuate between over-work, over-play, and over- rest. At this current phase of his musical manifestation Milli mixes Deep House, Techno, Soulful House, Disco and Funk.
He has gone on record to say that:
" Any track can be great if dropped at the right time. But also, the best track can clear the club if dropped at the wrong time. There is psychology and energetics involved when DJing. In fact, there is psychology and energetics involved in anything that involves human interaction. This must be addressed behind the decks. I ask myself before every show: Where is this crowd coming from? What are they feeling? What do they love? What do they fear? What do i want them to feel? And where do i want to take them?"
Milliways' vision is to incorporate as many modes of creativity in a show that is possible. The time and energy put into the preparation of an event sets the stage for the crowds direct experience.
In 2011 Milliways gave birth to the concept of the Scorpio Harvest and launched the maiden voyage in San Francisco at the iconic club Mighty. This is a yearly event that celebrates all the positive and negative qualities that comprise someone born under the Sign of Scorpio. He also launched the "Ghosts Out" monthly at 50 Mason in SF exploring the marriage between Hip Hop and House music.
In early 2012 Milliways became the resident DJ for SFTNG, an underground party in Oakland California which explored the dark desires of its participants. And he closed 2012 with his Oakland Art Murmur Disco to Deep House party curiously named "Synesthesia".
In 2013, the year of the chinese water snake, Milliways has decided to take "a back seat" by not planning or playing many shows. Instead he has spent his time diligenty digging for new music, upgrading and delving deep into new technology/gear, and networking with the many well established DJs in the bay area that have inspired him in many ways. He is focusing on developing the concepts for the next Scorpio Harvest which will hopefully include a special video artist from the east coast. Sit tight and stay tuned to see where 2013 takes Milliways!
If you like music that moves you and if you like the unexpected turns of life you are bound to jive with the projects Milliways is involved in....
