Now pushing into its 8th year, Egg in Kings Cross has proved itself to be a real contender, if not the leader, in London’s underground clubbing scene. Embracing all musical genres the venue has grown to become one of the most popular clubs in the Capital.
EGG opened in a blaze of publicity in May 2003. As the brainchild of club supremo Laurence Malice, that same year EGG won the prestigious BEDA award for Best London Club, one of the industry’s most coveted prizes and has since been nominated in the best venue categories for the Time Out Live Awards, the House Music Awards and came in the top 50 clubs in the world as voted by the DJs in DJ magazine.
What sets Egg apart from other clubs, making it so unique, is its beautiful very spacious garden, complete with balcony terrace (which can be booked as a second VIP area during the summer months), bar, decks, lounging hammocks and beanbags and sassy, sexy clubbers every weekend. During the summer there are open air DJ performances, whilst throughout the winter months it is covered, to form another inimitable area of the venue. Inside the club area is set over three floors, each with its own individual look. The ground floor has a distinctive industry feel, the middle is a multi-functional space with a newly refurbished VIP area, whilst the loft bar offers New York style, luxury and elegance. Every floor, and the garden has the award winning ‘Funktion One’ sound system installed, whilst every attention has been given to the finest detail in design and build across the entire venue.
Since opening in 2003, Egg has played host to numerous significant club events with many paramount DJs stepping up to its decks including Mylo, Kosheen, Andy C, Goldie, Billy Nasty, Andrew Weatherall, Tom Stefan, Tiefschwarz, Junior Jack & Kid Crème, Claudio Coccoluto, Ricardo Villalobos, Soul Mekanik, Magda, Eric Prydz, Blackstrobe, Ladytron, Ritchie Hawtin, Miss Honey Dijon, LCD Soundsystem, Princess Superstar, Timmy Regisford, Quentin Harris, Glen Underground and Miss Kitten to name but a few.
And it’s not only the club events that have bought attention to the venue. In 2003 ‘The Face’ hosted their magazine re launch party, whilst in that same year Egg was the first place to catch the R’n’R band ‘Flint’ perform and listen to the electro sounds of the ‘LED Soundsystem’. Then the summer of 2005 saw both the ‘It’s all gone Pete Tong’ and the ‘Coldplay’ after parties draw star studded uber glam crowds to champagne soirees in the stunning garden.
With changes evolving continuously, Egg nightclub has everything and more to offer than most. |
