About JeremyBroughton / Jeremy is a House Dj originating from Wellington, New Zealand. Finding House Music in his late 20's, his instantaneous addiction to the four four beat has taken in to the Top Club in Australia, The Family in Brisbane. His passion for music started at a young age playing and destroying his parents vinyl collection, never recognising the level it would take him to musically later in life. Early influences in NZ saw listening to Joshua, Derek Carter, Craig Richards, Chris Fortier, and alike, Wellington's House scene was well developed and booming in 2001 with Studio Nine, a black room minimal lights, low roof and lead lined walls. The speakers reached to the roof in all corners and week in week out the Local Dj's and an internationals would educate and teach. It was not before long that he would be pulled into Djing having been Musical his whole life, the process of mixing came naturally.
Wellington's scene was a tight knit, with all clubs tied into residents whom had well developed relationships. With this in mind and his natural drive and support from friends FBI was formed. Jeremy promoted local and national Dj's using local clubs with good success. RISE an event Jeremy developed to push the early Electro House with Dj's Greg Churchill, Mark Ermerson, Angela Fisken, Sam Hill, and Mr Oz saw popular appeal in Wellington, with its heavy Bass Driven powerful sound it held its own against Drum n Bass which had started to dominate the new comers to as the deeper sounds no longer saw favour.
This sound would be key to Jeremy's success when relocating to Brisbane in 2003.
By a stroke of luck within weeks of arriving in Brisbane a mix CD made it into the hands of Promoter Chris Wilson which lead to his first booking in Australia. Taking his opportunities within 2 bookings in the smaller Uncle room, Jeremy was informed his sound was to big, so it was to the main room where Jeremy played on Family’s premiere night as a rotational resident for nearly 5 years. During that time Jeremy supported Tim Deluxe, Krafty Kutz, Gabrielle and Dresden, Sucker Dj's, Cut Copy, Greg Churchill, Roger Sanchez, Derrick May, Paolo Mojo, Ian Pooley, Tongiht Only, John Course, MDX , Dirty South, and Tim Richards to name a few. Jeremy has held resident spots all over Brisbane in the past 7 years but recently The MET (COCO), Alhambra, and Barsoma. The Last few years have also seen him spin at Future Music Festival, and Stereosonic.
Having played so many styles of House over the past few years his heart and sound is now heavily rooted in Bass Heavy Deep Tech and Funky House. His new incarnation has reignited a love of some of his earliest influences and has been welled taken by the The MET, Alhambra and Barsoma crews. You can catch him monthly at these venues and assorted other events around AUS and NZ.
