M.Philips was born in Oporto, where he grew up in artistic family. His father, Mário Leal musician (entertainer), the sister Cristina Leal, teaches ballroom dancing, his cousin, Ana Leal is a singer. Mário leal nasceu no Porto, onde foi criado num ambiente familiar artistico. O seu pai, Mário Leal é musico (artista de variedades); a irmã Cristina Leal, é professora de danças de salão; a prima, Ana Leal é fadista. Por último, e já Dj retirado, está o seu primo Nuno Leal, só sua mãe Maria Manuela seguiu outra arte a arte da culinária..
