London based Marco Baldassarre aka MB is a young yet extremely successful London based DJ and music producer who manages to create a unique vibe and exciting environment wherever he plays or brings his productions.
Originally from Italy he started djing in bars and clubs in 2003 in his hometown Bari. He soon became resident at club Zenzero for 3 years, and in 2005 took part of “Infusion”, a project aimed at promoting new experimental sounds in the south of the country. Other main clubs where he played in his native country are Cromie, Celler, Moma and Last Exit.
In 2006 MB moved to the UK to widen his music knowledge, experience, and contacts of course. As he arrived he met Diego cK head of cK Family promotions, an Events Company involved in the UK' music scene with some of the most exciting and well known weekly after parties in London. Supported by cK Family he soon enjoyed playing sets in London’s most amazing and important venues such as The End & AKA (and The Den & Centro), Egg, Light Box, Sosho Match, Mass, Factory and Union as well as in Portugal and Latvia and playing along djs of the caliber of Mauro Picotto, Monika Kruse, Kaiserdisco, Danilo Vigorito, Joseph capriati, Emanuele Inglese, Dosem Live & Technasia, James Priestley, Giles Smith, Glimpse, Hoxton Whores, Hugo, Sandro Vibot, Diego cK and Francesco Del Garda.
To gain more knowledge and music sensibility Marco decided to take a course and achieved a "IMW Diploma and BTEC Certificate Music Technology" (Islington Music Workshop) in 2009. Furthermore, he has been assistant sound engineer for the English short movie "Wilde dreams" and sound recordist for "Swings & Roundabouts".
Since he first moved to the UK he has seen a great and steadily increasing appreciation from both the crowds and the people in the industry.
MB is a deep minimal techno connoisseur and his style behind the decks never leaves space for a break – by knowing how to interact with the crowd and how to read the way people move and dance on the dance floor MB proves to have an edge that is hardly easily matched.
His passion not only stems from the music on its own, but also and especially from the way a party turns out to be while going on – as he says: “I think the feeling of a good party vibe comes from a synergy between the music and the crowd. I like to see my crowd jump and feel what I’m feeling while I’m playing, and that’s why I always try to “melt” the beat and the people as if they are a one thing and not two separate entities”.
This enthusiasm is also empowered by an amazing sense of rhythm and a great knowledge of song construction and structure gained through the music production course and the collaboration in productions with other London based producers.
In his productions – which he only started in 2007, but show a great understanding of the subject - Marco combines sounds that are typical of different genres, from house to techno, deep and minimal and blends them all to create vibrating melodies and rhythms that transmit an emotional and powerful energy to the listener.
Also characterized by vocal sounds his deep groovy beats drive from warm pumping bass lines to improvised variation and melodies that smoothly mix with the rest of the track.
At present times MB is concentrated on his own productions and collaborations with other artists and is due to release an EP (cK FAMILY) in May 2010 and he joined Diego cK co-running cK Family Promotions.
In the meantime he keeps his longtime weekly residency every Wednesday night at DeeSfactory, one of the most successful weekly after parties in London (now moving from Club Union to Fire, in Vauxhall) as well as the last Saturday of every month at Lightbox in collaboration with DC7 Events.
