About nakimayan / JENIFA MAYANJA
Ugandan born Jenifa Mayanja has been part of the underground deep house music scene for many years with fifteen plus years of dj experience. She solidified her reputation first as a music buyer at the now defunct legendary record store “Dancetracks” gaining knowledge and experience in the music industry in the late nineties and in the early days of Spiritual Life music with Joe Claussell. Through determination and undying passion for the music she became one of the most sought after djs in New York crowing her achievements by being invited to play at the“Body and Soul party many times over.
She created and nurtured her own successful and groundbreaking parties that featured her eclectic style of djing, one of those parties “Bu-mako” was the start of other creative avenues for Jenifa namely the Bu-mako recording label and “Bu-mako experience” radio show on www.motionfm.com. The label has received its share of press, Resident Advisor, Little White Earbuds and a recent article in Igloo Magazine writes that, ”Bu-mako is not creating sounds of stripped down space excursions or a lulling reaction to social issues, Bu-Mako comes from a new age aspect. It is a label that promulgates life, wholeness and musical exploration. Some may say its a naturalistic take on deep house, but the branding it not important; its the aural message that counts.
On the production tip she has collaborated with the following producers/musicians, Anthony Nicholson (Trackmode Records, Clairaudience) as the “Descendants”, Alison Crockett aka Diva Blue (Sylk 130, Naked Music, wah wah 45’s) as the Djima project released on Lifeline Records, Hipbone records with Vicki Bell and Alexis P. Suter(Open Door) as “Bakazi” .
