Brenmar - Let's Pretend

  • Share
  • Trickling out as a digital-only release toward the tail end of 2011, Brenmar's Let's Pretend was further evidence of the producer's knack for intertwining soothing R&B with high-tempo club music. The title track bubbles with a stripped-down tinny kick and snare before launching into a warm and gentle shoulder-shuffling groove with lush vocals. Midway through, a layer of pitched up melancholic stabs fade to the fore before falling back to the previous caramel core of the track. "Temperature Rising" hews to its title by racking up the BPMs and whipping up tension with seductive vocals. "Done (Don't Luv Me No More)" takes the suggestive vocals down a notch and pitches Brenmar closer to DJs Rashad & Spinn with a bright take on the footwork sound. The EP signs out on a Mike Q re-work of "Done," adding sub and going down a more direct ravey route than the original. Having furthered his reputation with a stint at the RBMA Madrid, it's looking like 2012 will be an even brighter year for the promising New York producer.
