Kirk Degiorgio - Divine Logic

  • There are some sounds you just don't expect particular producers to use. In the case of British veteran Kirk Degiorgio, it's the coarse buzzing which holds center stage on both sides of Divine Logic. Looping like an errant mosquito, it moves through a lengthy progression, frequently hovering at one pitch while the rest of the track keeps circulating. The "divine" part probably comes from the wispy, Jean-Michel Jarre cosmicness which makes up the background, shining out like blinding sunlight through a chink in the curtains. Played together, the two form a nice dichotomy. In the Dub Mix, this divinity is a little more prevalent, and Degiorgio's breezy cymbals more clamourous, partnering neatly with the boompty drums for a clubbier rhythm. What's great about both cuts is that despite definite melodic advancement, neither seem dedicated to a particular destination; they're just offering a really pleasant ride.
