When a resident from Corsica Studios' highly successful night Trouble Vision decides to start their own party, it's worth taking notice. Since its launch last September, Tief (run by Hessletime, AKA Matt Hessleworth) has laid on excellent lineups, already having played host to jozif, Stimming and even holding court on New Year's Eve with Scuba Vs SCB and Joy Orbison. Tief's most recent showing continued the high standards of quality already set, with the excitement particularly high for room two headliner Axel Boman.

Early on, former Disco Bloodbather Dan Beaumont did a stellar job of taking the empty second room and packing it with fun disco sounds, with Bottin's edit of "Sage Comme Une Image" by Lio going down as a particular highlight. Trips to the bar in the main room gave brief interludes of Zoo Look but, while it proved to be fun and danceable, it was ultimately just pleasant distractions from what room two had to offer.

Beaumont was the ideal warm-up to Boman, having filled the room with happy, smiling people. Fans were treated to a mixture of his own music laced with euphoric epics like Pachanga Boys' "Time." Boman gives off a sense that he's communing with the crowd when DJing, and this even extended into his super-friendly attitude towards the many individuals who complimented him during and after his set.

One might think that an artist from Berlin techno and house stable Ostgut Ton would jar with the cosmic vibes, but Prosumer is a master at lending his house a bit of soul—and this showed. Afterwards, Midland more than ably took up the reins in the smaller room, and while he clearly wasn't the 3 AM draw, still elicited an excitable reaction from the crowd.

It's clear promoter Matt Hessleworth has taken the core ethos that makes Trouble Vision so beloved and transplanted it into a deeper, more house-orientated night. By replicating the friendly atmosphere of Trouble Vision, he's created something London can always use more of: a welcoming deep house night devoid of bad attitude.
