High Eight - Tear It Up

  • Previously one of the members of the Future Funk Squad, High Eight has branched off to do his own thing and Tear It Up is a stormer of a breaks tune - big beats, big bass and hip hop samples cut up throughout. Side A. Original Not completely leaving his FFS roots behind, High Eight gets Glen "Future Funk Squad" Nichols on the mixing boards for the original and it maintains that FFS feel - crisp break beats with sharp snare drums, stabby bass drums and really light sounding hi-hats - it's what makes FFS a production force to be reckoned with. Add to the mix some heavy bass with subwoofer breaking potential, a techy melody and finally the Miami bass style "Come on! Tear the roof off!" samples, and Tear It Up becomes one damn good breaks tune. It gets better with every listen. Side B. Deibeat Remix Deibeat is one of Spain's renowned breaks DJ's and his take turns Tear It Up into a festival styled breaks tune, along the lines of what BLIM, Rennie Pilgrem and Koma & Bones are into right now. The beat gets chopped up (almost 2-steppy) to give the tune a slight shuffle and the bass is filtered to give it that spongy effect. Deibeat still keeps the tech melody in the middle and of course the vocal samples which add that extra punch to the tune. Nu-skool breaks fans, this one is for you, and for those who don't buy vinyl, can find this on the forthcoming NEW:BPM mix by Future Funk Squad, coming out on En:Vision soon
