Goldenscan - Of Our Times

  • Goldenscan return to the production circuit with 'Of Our Times', a follow up to Sunrise which received some solid success. On the A-side of disc one is the Super8 Remix. Beginning with a quick paced drum pattern and electro melody, the vocal soon takes control of the production. Soon enough the synths take the track to epic proportions before a nice stringy breakdown compliments the vocals. The synths then run the ship from hereon taking the track down peak time lane. On the flip is the Original Mix. Quick solid beats start the track with a arpeggaitued synth line. The vocal is the main element here as it rolls along the track, sometimes filtered. A melody also rolls with the track nicely. The track breaks down nicely midway in with pixie melodies intertwining with the vocal before the track then moves into 5th gear with a synthy melody and the beats. On the A-side of disc two is the quite impressive Burufunk Mix. This one’s for the prog-breaks aficionados as the beats roll with the main melody of the original and a screeching baseline. The vocal joins the arrangement soon enough as it rolls towards a nice breakdown midway into the track, which features a nice baseline under the vocal and melody. The beats then return and take the track to its conclusion. On the flip is Katana’s ‘Randy Katana’ Mix. The track begins with a standard kick and a bouncy melodic base that continues, soon enough seeing a snippet of the vocal line looped. A fuzzy string then sweeps its way through the production through to a vocal ridden breakdown and epic synths, which continue well after the breakdown and intertwine with the beats. Quite an interesting mix to say the least. Disc two is where the interest lies for me at least. The Burufunk mix is very impressive while the Katan mix should evoke some interest. For the trance elite, check out disc one to satisfy your needs.
