Cultivate - Broken Pieces

  • Cultivate are next up on Lost Language with a production by the name of 'Broken Pieces', a follow up to Goldenscan latest release on the label. On the A-side of Disc one is Max Graham’s Third Street Mix. It begins with usual drum patterns of Max Graham’s productions, nicely placed beats and a subtle baseline. Smooth strings soon make their way into the production as the track breaks down early into a nice soothing melody. As the track progresses the melody synthesises a little then comes back into its original form with the beats by its side as the mix reaches its maximum. Another solid production from the Canadian. On the flip is the Original Mix. Starting with some straightforward beats and a base the track builds to an early breakdown with fluctuating melodies. The track then progresses a little further with the melodies taking a different form, as well as some strings coming into the production for little durations. The baseline builds and melody continues as the track then reaches its conclusion. On the A-side of disc two is the Goldenscan Remix. It begins in a fury with a highly paced kick. Soon enough the drums build and the rolling baselines take control as the track finds a rhythm early on. A long breakdown follows with rolling melodies and subtle string preludes, and the drums build to welcome a peak time return of the beats. By this time the track is well and truly in 5th gear until it fades out to its conclusion. It is quite an impressive remix from Goldenscan. On the flip is Dale Askew’s Liberation Mix. Starts off with a nice steady pace of the usual drums before a electro like synth rides the arrangement. A deeper electro melody soon joins the action as the beat breaks up a little. The track then fluctuates between the original melody and the electro synths for the remainder. Max Graham delivers the goods yet again with his remix, as do Goldenscan. Another solid release on the Lost Language label.
