If you are after an example of how technology has opened up our purview to a broader musical palette, then Gacha may just be a perfect one. Unhindered, you expect, from the relentless pursuit of Londoners, Berliners or New Yorkers in hitting on a hip new musical formula, this Georgian—Tbilisi, not Atlanta—simply makes music that moves him. It just so happens that it might do the same for you.
There's a lot thrown into the mix on "Remember." The rhythm has its provenance in UK garage but is slowed to a murmur, with a heavily distorted vocal that maintains its soulful edge (it doesn't hurt that it might just be from a certain Michael Jackson record). Sad cowboy guitars merely add to the melancholia. Alongside it, "Bowl" has the crunch and wobble of proto-dubstep, albeit lacerated by blips of muted percussion and the comforting hum of Detroit-style synths. This is music of deep intrigue, cloaked in an atmospheric fog.
