Nathan G - Duplicity EP

  • These two servings of straight-up deep house from Berlin-based Nathan G may not break much new ground, but if it's tight arrangements and musicality you're after, then the Aussie is one of the more reliable of the new school producers in this field. You can hear the influence of heroes like Mark Farina and Kerri Chandler in "Fall For Me"'s swagger; the jaunty main melody is buttressed by deeper bass keys spanking out the same refrain, accompanied by driving percussion and searing synth wails. G takes a more underground approach on "Up Again" and as a consequence it has the more bite, with squashed handclaps, dabs of live-sounding toms and a mid-section that ups the disco quotient but still keeps it in the deeper realms.
