Victor Stereo - No 2

  • Distraektions Limited is a new off-shoot label to Distraekt Records, a label that has released some killer tracks in the last year, with the likes of Tony Estrada and Flash Brothers. The label has been set up for the more underground style tunes, and Victor Stereo gets the ball rolling with No. 2. On the a-side is the Original Mix. The track begins with some nice 4/4 beats and a driving looped baseline. Another baseline joins forces giving the track a bigger groove all while vocal snippets come in and out of the track. The production maintains a similar flow throughout with the baselines providing the major highlight. On the flip is firstly the Tony Thomas Mix. The beats get a tougher reworking as the track starts off in a flurry. The baseline makes a big impact using very similar elements from the original. Tony makes good use of swirling effects throughout the production as the track rides a similar pattern as the original, with no real twists or turns. Also on the flip is the Make Ya Move Groove Edit. This is quite a short production with a 4/4 beat pattern that meets a quirky baseline and some deep looped effects. Late on, the track a turn for the twisted with some techy effects used with the vocal also making a brief impact. Quite a solid edit. Not a bad release. It has some solid grooves throughout, but for me it lacks that little edge that makes it a great debut release for the label. Give it a listen though, it my appeal more to you then it did to me.
